ہَلۡ یَنۡظُرُوۡنَ اِلَّا تَاۡوِیۡلَہٗ ۚ یَوۡمَ یَاۡتِیۡ تَاۡوِیۡلُہٗ یَقُوۡلُ الَّذِیۡنَ نَسُوۡہُ مِنۡ قَبۡلُ قَدۡ جَآءَتۡ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالۡحَقِّ فَہَل لَّنَا مِنۡ شُفَعَآءَ فَیَشۡفَعُوۡا لَنَاۤ اَوۡ نُرَدُّ فَنَعۡمَلَ غَیۡرَ الَّذِیۡ کُنَّا نَعۡمَلُ ۚ قَدۡ خَسِرُوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَہُمۡ وَضَلَّ عَنۡہُمۡ مَّا کَانُوۡا یَفۡتَرُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Do they wait only for the fulfilment of warnings thereof? On the day when the fulfilment thereof shall come, those who had forgotten it before shall say, ‘The Messengers of our Lord did indeed bring the truth. Have we then any intercessors to intercede for us? Or could we be sent back so that we might do deeds other than that which we used to do?’ They have indeed ruined their souls and that which they used to fabricate has failed them.

کیا وہ صرف اس کی تعبیر کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں۔ جس دن اس کی تعبیر آ جائے گی تو وہ لوگ جو اس سے پہلے اس (کتاب) کو بُھلا بیٹھے تھے کہیں گے کہ یقیناً ہمارے ربّ کے رسول حق کے ساتھ آئے تھے۔ پس کیا کوئی ہماری شفاعت کرنے والے ہیں تو ہماری شفاعت کریں یا پھر ہمیں واپس لوٹا دیا جائے تو ہم ان کاموں کی بجائے کچھ اور کام کریں گے جو ہم کیا کرتے تھے۔ یقیناً انہوں نے اپنے آپ کو گھاٹے میں ڈال دیا اور جو بھی وہ افترا کیا کرتے تھے ان سے کھویا گیا۔

N’attendent-ils que l’accomplissement des avertissements qui s’y trouvent ? Au jour où l’accomplissement aura lieu, ceux qui l’avaient oublié auparavant diront : « Les Messagers de notre Seigneur ont bien apporté la vérité. Aurons-nous des médiateurs pour intercéder en notre faveur ? Où pourrons-nous être renvoyés sur la terre afin que nous fassions des œuvres autres que celles que nous faisions ? » Ils ont causé leur propre perte et ce qu’ils inventaient ne leur a été d’aucun recours.

Warten sie auf etwas denn seine Erfüllung? An dem Tage, da seine Erfüllung kommt, werden jene, die es vordem vergessen hatten, sagen: "Die Gesandten unseres Herrn haben in der Tat die Wahrheit gebracht. Haben wir wohl Fürsprecher, die für uns Fürsprache einlegen? Oder könnten wir zurückgeschickt werden, auf dass wir anderes tun möchten, als wir zu tun pflegten?" Sie haben ihre Seelen zugrunde gerichtet, und das, was sie zu erdichten gewohnt waren, hat sie im Stich gelassen.

¿Esperan acaso sólo el cumplimiento de sus advertencias? El día en el que venga su cumplimiento, los que lo hayan olvidado dirán: “En verdad los Mensajeros de Nuestro Señor trajeron la verdad. ¿Tendremos algún mediador que interceda por nosotros? O ¿no podríamos ser devueltos para que realizáramos acciones distintas a las que hicimos?”. En verdad han arruinado sus almas y lo que maquinaron les ha fallado.

کیا (آج) یہ لوگ اس کتاب کی (مذکورہ باتوں کی) حقیقت (کے کھلنے) کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں جس دن اس کی حقیقت واضح ہو جائے گی۔ وہ لوگ جنہوں نے (اس سے) پہلے اس کو ترک کر دیا تھا‘ کہیں گے ہمارے رب کے رسول جو کچھ کہتے تھے سچ کہتے تھے پس کیا ہمارے کوئی شفیع ہیں جو ہماری شفاعت کریں یا (کیا ممکن ہے کہ) ہمیں پھر دنیا میں لوٹا دیا جائے تو ہم جو کچھ (برے) عمل کرتے تھے ان کی جگہ دوسرے (نیک) عمل کرنے لگ جائیں وہ لوگ (جن کا اوپر ذکر ہو چکا ہے) یقیناً گھاٹے میں پڑ گئے ہیں (اور اپنی جانوں کو بھی انہوں نے گھاٹے میں ڈال دیا) اور جو باتیں وہ اپنے دل سے بنا کر کہا کرتے تھے (آج) ان سے کھوئی گئیں۔

تاویل (fulfilment) means, revealing, disclosing, or expounding; interpretation; and issue, result or final sequel. The words ھل ینظرون الا تاویله mean, do they wait for aught save the result to which their case will come by the appearance of the promises and threats which it (the Book) has foretold (Lane). See also 3:8. For the sake of convenience the word has been rendered here as "fulfilment of warnings".
Commentary:
The verse constitutes at once a rebuke and a warning to the disbelievers. What are they waiting for, asks the verse, after they have been given such a Perfect Book as the Quran and such a Perfect Exemplar as the Holy Prophet, except that God’s promised punishment should overtake them?

اب کیا یہ لوگ اِس کے سوا کسی اور بات کے منتظر ہیں کہ وہ انجام سامنے آ جائے جس کی یہ کتاب خبر دے رہی ہے؟ جس روز وہ انجام سامنے آ گیا وہی لوگ جنہوں نے اسے نظر انداز کر دیا تھا کہیں گے کہ "واقعی ہمارے رب کے رسول حق لے کر آئے تھے، پھر کیا اب ہمیں کچھ سفارشی ملیں گے جو ہمارے حق میں سفارش کریں؟ یا ہمیں دوبارہ واپس ہی بھیج دیا جائے تاکہ جو کچھ ہم پہلے کرتے تھے اس کے بجائے اب دوسرے طریقے پر کام کر کے دکھائیں" انہوں نے اپنے آپ کو خسارے میں ڈال دیا اور وہ سارے جھوٹ جو انہوں نے تصنیف کر رکھے تھے آج ان سے گم ہو گئے

Do they await except its result? The Day its result comes those who had ignored it before will say, "The messengers of our Lord had come with the truth, so are there [now] any intercessors to intercede for us or could we be sent back to do other than we used to do?" They will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent.

ان لوگو ں کے لیے ےجو ایمان لے آئے ہیں انہیں اور کسی بات کا انتظار نہیں صرف آخری نتیجہ کا انتظار ہے جس دن اس کا آخری نتیجہ سامنے آئے گا اس دن جو اسے پہلے بھولے ہوئے تھے کہیں گے کہ واقعی ہمارے رب کے رسول کی سچی باتیں لائے تھے سو اب کیا کوئی ہمارا سفارشی ہے جو ہماری سفارش کر ےیاکیا ہم پھر واپس بھیجے جا سکتے ہیں تاکہ ہم ان کے اعمال کے خلاف جنہیں کیا کرتے تھے دوسرے اعمال کریں بے شک انہوں نے اپنے آپ کو خسارے میں ڈا ل دیا اور جو باتیں بناتے تھے وہ سب گم ہو گئیں

Do they wait except (for) its fulfillment (The) Day (will) come its fulfillment, will say those who had forgotten it from before, "Verily had come (the) Messengers (of) our Lord with the truth, so are (there) for us any intercessors so (that) they intercede for us or we are sent back so (that) we do (deeds) other than that which we used to do." Verily, they lost themselves, and strayed from them what they used to invent.

Do they look for aught else but its interpretation? The day its interpretation comes, those who before forgot it shall say, 'Indeed, our Lord's Messengers came with the truth. Have we then any intercessors to intercede for us, or shall we be returned, to do other than that we have done?' They have indeed lost their souls, and that which they were forging has gone astray from them.

Are they waiting for the fulfilment of its warning? On the Day that warning is fulfilled, those that have neglected it before will say: 'The Messengers of Our Lord did indeed bring forth the truth. Are there any intercessors who will now plead on our behalf? Or, can we be restored to life that we might perform differently from that which we did? ' They surely ended in utter loss, and the lies they had fabricated failed them.

Are they waiting for the exposition of what it speaks of? The day that (Reality) is unravelled, the people who had lost sight of it will say: "The apostles of our Lord had indeed brought the truth. Do we have any one to intercede for us? If only we could go back to the world, we would act otherwise." Indeed they have caused themselves harm, and the lies they concocted did not help.

On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch.
