وَحِیۡلَ بَیۡنَہُمۡ وَبَیۡنَ مَا یَشۡتَہُوۡنَ کَمَا فُعِلَ بِاَشۡیَاعِہِمۡ مِّنۡ قَبۡلُ ۚ اِنَّہُمۡ کَانُوۡا فِیۡ شَکٍّ مُّرِیۡبٍۭ

And a barrier will be placed between them and that which they long for, as was done with the likes of them before. They too were in disquieting doubt indeed.

اور ان کے درمیان اور جو وہ چاہیں گے اس کے درمیان ایک روک ڈال دی جائے گی جیسا کہ اس سے پہلے ان کے ہم قماش لوگوں سے کیا گیا۔ یقیناً وہ ہمیشہ ایک بے چین کر دینے والے شک میں مبتلا رہے۔

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

اور ان کے درمیان اور ان کی خواہشات کے درمیان روکیں ڈال دی گئیں۔ اسی طرح جس طرح ان کے ہم جنس لوگوں سے ان سے پہلے کیا گیا تھا۔ وہ بھی ایک ایسے شک میں مبتلا تھے جو بے چینی پیدا کرنے والا تھا۔ (اور یہ بھی) ۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

And a barrier will be placed between them and that which they long for, as was done with the like of them before.[2406] They too were in disquieting doubt.

The opponents of Islam are here told that like the rejectors of the Prophets of yore they will also utterly fail to realize their heart’s desire— failure of the mission of the Holy Prophet.

Important Words:

اشیاعھم (the likes of them). اشیاع is the plural of شیعة which means, followers or helpers or partisans; any people that have combined in or for an affair. The Quranic expression کما فعل بأشیاعھم means, as was done with the likes of them; of the same persuasion as they; of the people that have passed (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

There could be no greater frustration for man in life than that he should fail to achieve the object of his desire, and it is exactly this frustration that has always been the lot of the rejecters of God’s Prophets in every age. The opponents of Islam are here told that like the rejecters of the Prophets of yore they will also utterly fail to realize their heart’s desire—the failure of the mission of the Holy Prophet.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اُس وقت جس چیز کی یہ تمنا کر رہے ہوں گے اس سے محروم کر دیے جائیں گے جس طرح اِن کے پیش رو ہم مشرب محروم ہو چکے ہوں گے یہ بڑے گمراہ کن شک میں پڑے ہوئے تھے
