وَاَصۡبَحَ الَّذِیۡنَ تَمَنَّوۡا مَکَانَہٗ بِالۡاَمۡسِ یَقُوۡلُوۡنَ وَیۡکَاَنَّ اللّٰہَ یَبۡسُطُ الرِّزۡقَ لِمَنۡ یَّشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِہٖ وَیَقۡدِرُ ۖ لَوۡلَاۤ اَنۡ مَّنَّ اللّٰہُ عَلَیۡنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَا ۖ وَیۡکَاَنَّہٗ لَا یُفۡلِحُ الۡکٰفِرُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And those who had coveted his position the day before began to say, ‘Ah! it is indeed Allah Who enlarges the provision for such of His servants as He pleases and straitens it for whom He pleases. Had not Allah been gracious to us, He would have caused it to swallow us up also. Ah! the ungrateful never prosper.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور ان لوگوں نے ‘ جنہوں نے ایک دن پہلے تک اس کے مقام (کو حاصل کرنے) کی تمنّا کی تھی‘ اس حالت میں صبح کی کہ وہ کہہ رہے تھے وائے حسرت! اللہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کےلئے چاہے رزق کشادہ کر دیتا ہے اور (جس کےلئے چاہے) تنگ بھی کر دیتا ہے۔ اگر ہم پر اللہ نے احسان نہ کیا ہوتا تو وہ ہمیں بھی دھنسا دیتا۔ وائے حسرت! کافر کامیاب نہیں ہوا کرتے۔
French
Et ceux qui la veille avaient convoité son rang, se mirent à dire : « Ah ! C’est assurément Allāh Qui accroît la provision pour qui Il veut d'entre Ses serviteurs, et Qui la réduit pour qui Il veut . Si Allāh n’avait pas été gracieux envers nous, certainement Il nous aurait fait engloutir aussi. Ah ! Les ingrats ne prospèrent jamais ! »

Und jene, die noch tags zuvor sich an seine Stelle gewünscht hatten, sprachen: "Ah sieh! es ist fürwahr Allah, Der die Mittel zum Unterhalt weitet und beschränkt, wem Er will unter Seinen Dienern. Wäre uns Allah nicht gnädig gewesen, Er hätte (die Erde) uns verschlingen lassen. Ah sieh! die Undankbaren haben nie Erfolg."

昨天还垂涎库伦境遇的人, 而现在却说: “你们有祸了! [a]安拉随他的意愿使他的某些仆人生活宽裕, 也 (随他的意愿) 令 (他的某些仆人) 用度拮据。如果安拉不对我们施行仁慈, 那么, 他一定使我们也陷入地下。你们有祸了! 实际上, 不信的人是不会成功的。”

E quelli che il giorno prima avevano desiderato la sua condizione, incominciarono a dire: «Ah! È Allah, veramente, Colui che fa ampliare la provvista per chi Egli vuole tra i Suoi servi, e li limita per chi Egli vuole. Se Allah non fosse stato misericordioso con noi, avrebbe fatto inghiottire pure noi. Ah, gli ingrati non prospereranno mai!»

Y quienes codiciaron su posición el día anterior comenzaron a decir: “¡Ah! en verdad es Al‑lah quien amplía la provisión para quellos de Sus siervos que Le place y la estrecha para quien Él quiere. De no haber sido Al‑lah Clemente con osotros, habría hecho que la tierra nos tragara también. ¡Ah! los ingratos nunca prosperan”.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور وہ لوگ جو کل تک اس کے مقام پر ہونے کی تمنا کرتے تھے کہنے لگ گئے تجھ پر ہلاکت ہو۔ اللہ ہی یقیناً اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کے لئے چاہتا ہے رزق میں فراخی دیتا ہے اور جس کے لئے چاہتا ہے تنگی کرتا ہے اگر ہم پر اللہ نے احسان نہ کیا ہوتا تو ہمیں بھی مصیبتوں کا شکار کر دیتا۔ تجھ پر ہلاکت ہو (بات یہی ہے کہ) کافر کبھی کامیاب نہیں ہوتے۔

And those who had coveted his position the day before began to say, ‘Ruin seize thee! [a]it is indeed Allah Who enlarges the provision for such of His servants as He pleases and straitens it for whom He pleases. Had not Allah been gracious to us, He would have caused it to swallow us up also. Ah! the ungrateful never prosper.’

ویکان (Ah).ویک is a compound expression made up of وی and ک and is used for surprise and reproach, وی meaning woe and ک being a letter of address. They say ویک i.e. woe to thee. Some say ویک is ویلک (thy perdition), ل having been omitted. ویک being an expression of surprise or reproach means, oh; ah. وی لزید also means, well done Zaid, bravo Zaid (Aqrab).

اب وہی لوگ جو کل اس کی منزلت کی تمنا کر رہے تھے کہنے لگے "افسوس، ہم بھول گئے تھے کہ اللہ اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کا رزق چاہتا ہے کشادہ کرتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے نَپا تلا دیتا ہے اگر اللہ نے ہم پر احسان نہ کیا ہوتا تو ہمیں بھی زمین میں دَھنسا دیتا افسوس ہم کو یاد نہ رہا کہ کافر فلاح نہیں پایا کرتے"
English - Sahih
And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allah extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allah had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed!"

اور وہ لوگ جو کل اس کے مرتبہ کی تمنا کرتے تھے آج صبح کو کہنے لگے کہ ہائے شامت! الله اپنے بندوں میں سے جس کے لیے چاہتا ہے روزی کشادہ کر دیتا ہے اور تنگ کر دیتا ہے اگر ہم پر الله کا احسان نہ ہوتا تو ہمیں بھی دھنسا دیتا ہائے! کافر نجات نہیں پا سکتے

And began, those who (had) wished his position the day before (to) say, "Ah! That Allah extends the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and restricts it. If not that Allah had favored [to] us He would have caused it to swallow us. Ah! That not will succeed the disbelievers."

and in the morning those who had longed to be in his place the day before were saying, 'Ah, God outspreads and straitens His provision to whomsoever He will of His servants. Had God not been gracious to us, He would have made us to be swallowed too. Ah, the unbelievers do not prosper,

And those who had envied his position the day before began to say on the morrow: "Alas, we had forgotten that it is Allah Who increases the provision of those of His servants whom He will and grants in sparing measure to those whom He will. But for Allah's favour upon us, He could have made us to be swallowed too. Alas, we had forgotten that the unbelievers do not prosper."
