غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلْعِقَابِ ذِى ٱلطَّوْلِ ۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

The Forgiver of sin and the Acceptor of repentance, Severe in punishment, the Possessor of bounty. There is no God but He. Towards Him is the final return.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

جوگناہوں کو بخشنے والا اور توبہ قبول کرنے والا، پکڑ میں سخت اور بہت عطا اور وسعت والا ہے۔ اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں۔ اُسی کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے۔

French

Le Pardonneur de péché, l’Accepteur de repentir, Celui Qui est sévère en châtiment, le Maître de la munificence. Il n’y a de dieu que Lui. Vers Lui est la destination finale.

German

dem Vergeber der Sünde und Empfänger der Reue, dem Strengen in der Bestrafung, dem Besitzer der Gnadenfülle. Es gibt keinen Gott außer Ihm. Zu Ihm ist die Heimkehr.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

جو گناہوں کا بخشنے والا اور توبہ قبول کرنے والا ہے (اور اس وجہ سے حمد کا مستحق ہے) سزا دینے میں سخت[2] ہے بڑا احسان کرنے والا ہے۔ اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں‘ اسی کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے۔

یعنی معاف تو بہت کرتا ہے مگر اس کی سزا انسانی سزا جیسی نہیں ہوتی بلکہ سخت ہوتی ہے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Forgiver of sin, Acceptor of repentance, Severe in punishment, the Lord of bounty.[2593] There is no god but He. Towards Him is the final return.

Taul means, beneficence; bounty; excellence; superabundance; power; wealth; ampleness of circumstances; superiority, ascendancy (Lane).

English - Five Volume Translation

Forgiver of sin, Acceptor of repentance, Severe in punishment, Lord of bounty. There is no God but He. Towards Him is the final return.[3495]

Important Words:

الطول (bounty) is derived from طال which means, it was or became elongated, extended, long, tall or high. طول (taul) means, beneficence and bounty and a gift; excellence; excess or super-abundance; power or ability; wealth or competence; ample-ness of circumstances; superiority, ascendancy. طول (tul) means, length; extension, etc. (Lane & Aqrab).

Commentary:

God as represented by Islam is Forgiver of sins, Acceptor of repentance, and Beneficent, but he who persists in wicked ways and does not reform or repent, to him He is very severe in punishment.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

گناہ معاف کرنے والا اور توبہ قبول کرنے والا ہے، سخت سزا دینے والا اور بڑا صاحب فضل ہے کوئی معبود اس کے سوا نہیں، اُسی کی طرف سب کو پلٹنا ہے

English - Sahih

The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination.

گناہ بخشنے والا اور توبہ قبول کرنے والا سخت عذاب دینے والا قدرت والا ہے اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اسی کی طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہے

(The) Forgiver (of) the sin, and (the) Acceptor (of) [the] repentance, severe (in) the punishment, Owner (of) the abundance. (There is) no god except Him; to Him, (is) the final return.

اردہ تفصیرِ صغیر نوٹس ^*

یعنی معاف تو بہت کرتا ہے مگر اس کی سزا انسانی سزا جیسی نہیں ہوتی بلکہ سخت ہوتی ہے۔
