See 8. ― 2-b2- هَدَى العَرُوسَ He sent [or conducted] the bride (MA, KL) to her husband, (MA,) or to the house of her husband: (KL;) i. q. زَفَّهَا, (K in art. زف,) and so ↓ أَهْدَاهَا. (Msb in that art.) ― 2-b3- يَهْدِى meaning يُؤَدِّى: see an ex. in a verse cited voce طَبَعٌ.

قُلۡ اِنَّنِیۡ ہَدٰٮنِیۡ رَبِّیۡۤ اِلٰی صِرٰطٍ مُّسۡتَقِیۡمٍ دِیۡنًا قِیَمًا مِّلَّۃَ اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ حَنِیۡفًا ۚ وَمَا کَانَ مِنَ الۡمُشۡرِکِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Say, ‘As for me, my Lord has guided me unto a straight path — a right religion, the religion of Abraham, the upright. And he was not of those who join gods with God.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تو کہہ دے کہ یقیناً میرے ربّ نے مجھے سیدھے رستے کی طرف ہدایت دی ہے (جسے) ایک قائم رہنے والا دین، ابراہیمِ حنیف کی ملت (بنایا ہے) اور وہ ہرگز مشرکین میں سے نہ تھا۔

French

Dis : « Assurément, mon Seigneur m’a dirigé sur un droit chemin – la vraie religion, la religion d’Abraham qui était toujours incliné vers le droit chemin. Et il n’était pas du nombre des associateurs. »

German

Sprich: "Siehe, mich hat mein Herr auf einen geraden Weg geleitet – zu dem rechten Glauben, dem Glauben Abrahams, des Aufrechten. Und er war keiner der Götzendiener."

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

تو (ان سے) کہہ دے کہ مجھے میرے رب نے یقیناً سیدھے راستہ کی طرف راہنمائی کی ہے ایسے دین کی طرف جو بغیر کسی کجی کے ہے۔ یعنی ابراہیم کے دین کی طرف جو سچائی پر قائم تھا اور وہ مشرکوں میں سے نہ تھا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Say, ‘My Lord has guided me unto a straight path—the right religion, [b]the religion of Abraham, the upright. And he was not of those who associate gods with Allah.’

English - Five Volume Translation

Say, ‘As for me, my Lord has guided me unto a straight path—a right religion, [b]the religion of Abraham, the upright. And he was not of those who join gods with God.’[901]

Important Words:

قیم (right) is derived from قام which means, he stood still or he stood up. قیم الامر means, he undertook the affair; he managed or conducted it. قیم means, right, correct or true. قیم الامر means, manager, conductor or superintendent of the affair (Lane). See also 4:6, 35, 163.

Commentary:

The previous verse proved the need of a revealed religion. In the present verse we are told that now the revealed religion was the one which the Holy Prophet of Islam was following and which in principle was also the religion of Abraham, the upright. The word حنیف means (1) upright and (2) one who is ever inclined to God; and such a one can only be he who believes in all the Prophets of God.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اے محمدؐ! کہو میرے رب نے بالیقین مجھے سیدھا راستہ دکھا دیا ہے، بالکل ٹھیک دین جس میں کوئی ٹیڑھ نہیں، ابراہیمؑ کا طریقہ جسے یکسو ہو کر اُس نے اختیار کیا تھا اور وہ مشرکوں میں سے نہ تھا

English - Sahih

Say, "Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path - a correct religion - the way of Abraham, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allah."

کہہ دو میرے رب نے مجھےایک سیدھا راستہ بتلا دیا ہے ایک صحیح دین ابراھیم کی ملت جو ایک ہی طرف کاتھا اور مشرکوں میں سے نہیں تھا

Say, "Indeed (as for) me, has guided me my Lord to a path, straight - a religion right, religion (of) Ibrahim - a true monotheist. And not he was from the polytheists.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

یا (کوئی) یہ کہنے لگے کہ اگر اللہ مجھے (جبرا) ہدایت دے دیتا تو میں بھی متقیوں میں سے ہو جاتا۔
