English - Short Commentary Translation
‘And stop them, for they shall be questioned.’

And stop them; for they must be questioned.’[3289]
Commentary:
Before being actually punished the guilty will be asked to show the cause why they should not be punished, or, if they had anything to say in defence or extenuation of their guilt, to produce it.
