اِرۡجِعُوۡۤا اِلٰۤی اَبِیۡکُمۡ فَقُوۡلُوۡا یٰۤاَبَانَاۤ اِنَّ ابۡنَکَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَہِدۡنَاۤ اِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمۡنَا وَمَا کُنَّا لِلۡغَیۡبِ حٰفِظِیۡنَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

“Return ye to your father and say, ‘O our father, thy son has stolen and we have stated only what we know and we could not be guardians over the unseen.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

اپنے باپ کی طرف واپس جاؤ اور اسے کہو کہ اے ہمارے باپ! یقیناً تیرے بیٹے نے چوری کی ہے اور ہم سوائے اس کے جس کا ہمیں علم ہے کوئی گواہی نہیں دے رہے اور ہم یقیناً غیب کے محافظ نہیں۔

French

Retournez auprès de votre père, et dites : ‘Ô notre père, ton fils a volé et nous n’attestons que ce que nous savons, et assurément nous ne pouvions pas être gardiens de l’invisible.

Kehret ihr zurück zu eurem Vater und sprecht: "O unser Vater, dein Sohn hat gestohlen; und wir haben nur ausgesagt, was wir wussten, und wir konnten nicht Wächter sein über das Verborgene.

“你们回到你们父亲那里, 并(对他) 说: “我们的父亲啊! 你的儿子确已犯了偷盗罪, 我们只把我们 (亲自) 知道的告诉 (你), 不能监护目所不能见的;

Tornate da vostro padre e dite: O padre nostro, tuo figlio ha commesso un furto e noi abbiamo dichiarato solo quanto sappiamo e non potevamo sorvegliare l'invisibile.

Spanish

“Volved a vuestro padre y decidle: ‘Oh padre nuestro, tu hijo ha robado y sólo hemos afirmado lo que sabemos pues no podemos ser custodios de lo desconocido”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

تم اپنے باپ کی طرف لوٹ جاؤ اور (اس سے جاکر) کہو (کہ) اے ہمارے باپ آپ کے (چھوٹے) بیٹے نے ضرور چوری کی ہے۔ اور ہم نے (آپ سے) وہی کہا ہے جس کا ہمیں (ذاتی) علم ہے اور ہم (اپنی) نظر سے پوشیدہ بات کی حفاظت نہیں کر سکتے تھے۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

“Go back to your father, and say, ‘O our father, thy son committed theft and we have stated only what we know and we could not be guardians over the unseen;’

English - Five Volume Translation

“Return ye to your father and say, ‘O our father, thy son has stolen and we have stated only what we know and we could not be guardians over the unseen.[1581]

Commentary:

This and the following verses are in continuation of what Judah said to his brothers in the previous verse. The words, we could not be guardians over the unseen, may mean, we have related what we saw but we do not know what is the reality of the matter concerning the charge of stealing against Benjamin. Or they may mean, we had given thee our plighted word that we would bring Benjamin back with us but we did not know that matters would come to such a pass. We had given thee our pledge quite honestly.

تم جا کر اپنے والد سے کہو کہ "ابا جان، آپ کے صاحبزادے نے چوری کی ہے ہم نے اسے چوری کرتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا، جو کچھ ہمیں معلوم ہوا ہے بس وہی ہم بیان کر رہے ہیں، اور غیب کی نگہبانی تو ہم نہ کر سکتے تھے

English - Sahih

Return to your father and say, "O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen,

تم اپنے باپ کے پاس لوٹ جاؤ اور کہو اے ہمارے باپ! تیرے بیٹے نے چوری کی اور ہم نے وہی کہا تھا جس کا ہمیں علم تھا اور ہمیں غیب کی خبر نہ تھی

Return to your father and say, 'O our father! Indeed, your son has stolen, and not we testify except of what we knew. And not we were of the unseen guardians.

So go back to your father and tell him: "Father! Your son has certainly been guilty of stealing. We did not see him stealing but testify according to what we know, and obviously we had no power to keep watch over that what is altogether hidden from us.

So, go to your father and tell him: 'O father, your son has committed a theft. We bear witness to only what we know; we could not prevent the unknown.
