لداً (contentious) is derived from لد (ladda) which means, he was violent or vehement in contention; in dispute; in litigation. لدہ means, he overcame him or opposed him violently in contention or altercation; in dispute; in litigation. لداً is the plural of ألد which means, a man violent or vehement in contention; in dispute; in litigation; or difficult therein, and vehement in war: or a contentious or litigious and tenacious adversary who will not incline to the truth (Lane, Aqrab & Mufradat).
