19:3

ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُۥ زَكَرِيَّآ

إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ نِدَآءً خَفِيًّا

When he called upon his Lord, a secret calling,

19:5

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَهَنَ ٱلْعَظْمُ مِنِّى وَٱشْتَعَلَ ٱلرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُنۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
He said, ‘My Lord, the bones have indeed waxed feeble in me, and the head glistens with hoariness, but never, my Lord, have I been unblessed in my prayer to Thee.

19:6

وَإِنِّى خِفْتُ ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ مِن وَرَآءِى وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّا

‘And I fear my relations after me, and my wife is barren. Grant me, therefore, a successor from Thyself,

19:7

يَرِثُنِى وَيَرِثُ مِنْ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَٱجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا

‘That he may be heir to me and to the House of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, well-pleasing to Thee.’

That he may be heir to me and heir to the House of Jacob. And [c]make him, my Lord well-pleasing to Thee.’[2151]

‘To be my heir and the heir of the blessings of the House of Jacob. And [e]make him, my Lord, well-pleasing to Thee.’
19:8

يَٰزَكَرِيَّآ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ ٱسْمُهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
‘O Zachariah, We give thee glad tidings of a son whose name shall be Yahya‡. We have not made any one before him of that name.’

God said, ‘O Zachariah, [a]We give thee glad tidings of a son whose name shall be Yahya. We have not made any one before him [b]of that name.’[2152]

God said, ‘O Zachariah, [a]We give thee glad tidings of a son whose name shall be Yahya. We have not called any one before him [b]by that name.’[1742]
19:9

قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَٰمٌ وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ ٱلْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
He said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached the extreme limit of old age?’

He said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a son when [a]my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme limit of old age?’[2153]

He said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a son when [c]my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme limit of old age?’[1743]
19:10

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْـًٔا

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
He said, ‘So it is.’ But thy Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and indeed I created thee before, when thou wast nothing.’

The angel bearing the revelation said, [a]‘So it is.’ But thy Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and indeed I created thee before, when thou wast nothing.’[2154]

The angel bearing the revelation said, [d]‘So it shall be.’ But thy Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and indeed I created thee before, when thou wast nothing.’
