وَلَقَدۡ اَرۡسَلۡنَاۤ اِلٰی ثَمُوۡدَ اَخَاہُمۡ صٰلِحًا اَنِ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰہَ فَاِذَا ہُمۡ فَرِیۡقَانِ یَخۡتَصِمُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And We sent to Thamud their brother Salih, who said, ‘Worship Allah.’ But behold, they became two parties contending with each other.
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اور ہم نے یقیناً ثمود کی طرف بھی اُن کا بھائی صالح بھیجا تھا (یہ کہتے ہوئے) کہ اللہ کی عبادت کرو۔ پس اچانک وہ دو گروہ بن کر جھگڑنے لگے۔
French
Et Nous envoyâmes aux Thamūd leur frère Ṣāliḥ, qui leur dit : « Adorez Allāh. » Mais ils se séparèrent en deux groupes se querellant entre eux.

Wir entsandten zu den Thamûd ihren Bruder Sâleh (der sprach): "Verehret Allah!" Doch siehe, sie wurden zwei Parteien, die miteinander stritten.

Enviamos a los Zamud a su hermano Salih, quien dijo: “Adorad a Al‑lah”. Pero he aquí se dividieron en dos grupos que disputaban entre sí.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اور ہم نے ثمود کی طرف ان کے بھائی صالح کو ضرور رسول بنا کر بھیجا تھا‘ (یہ کہتے ہوئے) کہ اللہ کی عبادت کرو۔ پس وہ (سنتے ہی) دو گروہ ہو گئے جو آپس میں جھگڑنے لگے۔

[a]And ‘We sent to Thamud their brother Salih who said, ‘Worship Allah.’ And at once they became two parties contending with each other.

Commentary:
This and the following several verses deal with the Prophets Salih and Lot. The relevancy of discussion about them here is that their peoples lived on the trade route from Hijaz to Syria and the Arabs were well conversant with them.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
اور ثمود کی طرف ہم نے اُن کے بھائی صالح کو (یہ پیغام دے کر) بھیجا کہ اللہ کی بندگی کرو، تو یکایک وہ دو متخاصم فریق بن گئے

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting.
