27:47
قَالَ یٰقَوۡمِ لِمَ تَسۡتَعۡجِلُوۡنَ بِالسَّیِّئَۃِ قَبۡلَ الۡحَسَنَۃِ ۖ لَوۡلَا تَسۡتَغۡفِرُوۡنَ اللّٰہَ لَعَلَّکُمۡ تُرۡحَمُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
He said, ‘O my people, why do you wish to hasten on the evil rather than the good? Wherefore do you not ask forgiveness of Allah that you may be shown mercy?’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
اس نے کہا اے میری قوم! تم کیوں اچھی بات سے پہلے بُری بات کے لئے جلدی کرتے ہو۔ تم کیوں اللہ سے بخشش نہیں مانگتے تا کہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے۔
French
Il dit : « Ô mon peuple, pourquoi désirez-vous hâter le mal plutôt que le bien ? Pour quelle raison ne demandez-vous pas pardon à Allāh, afin que la miséricorde vous soit faite ? »
German
Er sprach: "O mein Volk, weshalb wollt ihr lieber das Böse beschleunigt sehen als das Gute? Warum bittet ihr nicht Allah um Verzeihung, damit euch Barmherzigkeit zuteil werde?"
Chinese
他说: “我的族人啊! 你们为什么速于求祸而不求福? [b]你们怎么不向安拉祈求饶恕, 以便你们蒙受仁慈?”

Egli disse: «Popolo mio, perché volete affrettare il male, invece del bene? Perché non chiedete perdono ad Allah, così che vi sia mostrata misericordia?»

Él dijo: “Oh, pueblo mío, ¿por qué deseas apresurarte al mal en vez de hacerlo al bien?, ¿Por qué no pedís pues perdón a Al‑lah para que se os muestre misericordia?”.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
اس (صالح) نے کہا‘ اے میری قوم! تم خوشحالی کے آنے سے پہلے خراب حالی کے لئے کیوں جلدی کرتے ہو کیا تم خدا سے اپنے گناہوں پر استغفار نہیں کرتے تا کہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
He said, ‘O, my people, why do you seek to hasten on evil rather than good? [b]Wherefore do you not ask forgiveness of Allah that you may be shown mercy?’

He said, ‘O, my people, why do you wish to hasten on the evil rather than the good? [b]Wherefore do you not ask forgiveness of Allah that you may be shown mercy?’[2846]

Commentary:
Such has always been the way of disbelievers that instead of benefiting by the respite that is granted to them, they become all the more arrogant, and misconstruing the delay as an argument against their Prophet, demand the speedy coming of the threatened Divine punishment.
اردو ترجمہ مودودی
صالحؑ نے کہا "“اے میری قوم کے لوگو، بھلائی سے پہلے بُرائی کے لیے کیوں جلدی مچاتے ہو؟ کیوں نہیں اللہ سے مغفرت طلب کرتے؟ شاید کہ تم پر رحم فرمایا جائے؟"
English - Sahih
He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy?"
اردو ترجمہ احمد علی
کہا اے میری قوم بھلائی سے پہلے برائی کو کیوں جلدی مانگتے ہو الله سے گناہ کیوں نہیں بخشواتے تاکہ تم پر رحم کیا جائے
English - Talal Itani
He said, "O my people! Why (do) you seek to hasten the evil before the good? Why not you ask forgiveness (of) Allah so that you may receive mercy?"

He said, 'O my people, why do you seek to hasten evil before good? Why do you not ask forgiveness of God? Haply so you will find mercy.'

Salih said: "My people, why do you wish to hasten that evil rather than good should come upon you? Why should you not seek pardon from Allah so that mercy be shown to you?"

(Saleh) said: "O people, why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why not ask for God's forgiveness? You may well be forgiven."
