ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ وَٱللَّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Then the end of their mischief will be naught save that they shall say, ‘By Allah, our Lord, we were not idolaters.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

پھر ان کا (گھڑا ہوا) فتنہ کچھ باقی نہیں رہے گا مگر اتنا کہ وہ کہیں گے اللہ ہمارے ربّ کی قسم! کہ ہم ہرگز مشرک نہیں تھے۔

French

Alors, ils n’auront pas d’excuses, sauf qu’ils diront : « Par Allāh, notre Seigneur, nous n’étions pas des associateurs. »

German

Dann werden sie keine andere Ausrede haben als dass sie sagen werden: "Bei Allah, unserem Herrn, wir waren keine Götzendiener."

Chinese

然后他们再不能作任何辩解, 只有说: “我们以我们的养主, 安拉立誓: 我们过去并不是多神教徒。”[422]

多神教徒 (们) 的这一否认, 将是真正承认他们是孤立无援的, 而且是祈求安拉仁慈的一种形式。

Italian

Allora la fine della loro malizia sarà un nulla, a meno che essi non diranno: «Per Allah, nostro Signore, noi non siamo stati idolatri.»

Spanish

Entonces el fin de su maldad será la nada, salvo que dirán: “ Por Al-lah, Señor Nuestro, no éramos idólatras”.

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

پھر اس کے جواب میں وہ صرف یہ کہیں گے کہ اللہ کی قسم جو ہمارا (سچا) رب ہے ہم (تو) مشرک تھے (ہی) نہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Then they will have no excuse save that they shall say, ‘By Allah, our Lord, we were not idolaters.’[837]

This denial on the part of idolaters will really be a confession of their helplessness and a form of petition for Divine mercy.

English - Five Volume Translation

Then the end of their mischief will be naught save that they shall say, ‘By Allah, our Lord, we were not idolaters.’[771]

Commentary:

The verse means that on the Day of Judgement all the mischief which disbelievers worked in their life on earth will end and nothing will be left to them save to deny their having ever attributed partners to God. This denial will really be a confession of their helplessness and a form of petition for Divine mercy.

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

تو وہ اِس کے سوا کوئی فتنہ نہ اٹھا سکیں گے کہ (یہ جھوٹا بیان دیں کہ) اے ہمارے آقا! تیری قسم ہم ہرگز مشر ک نہ تھے

English - Sahih

Then there will be no [excuse upon] examination except they will say, "By Allah, our Lord, we were not those who associated."

پھر سوائے اس کے ان کا اورکوئی بہانہ نہ ہوگا کہیں گے ہمیں الله اپنے پرودگار کی قسم ہے کہ ہم تو مشرک نہیں تھے

Then not will be (for) them a plea except that they say, "By Allah, our Lord, not we were those who associated others (with Allah)."

Then they shall have no proving, but to say, 'By God our Lord, we never associated other gods with Thee.'

Then they will be able to play no mischief but will say (falsely): 'By Allah, our Lord, we associated none (with You in Your divinity).'

Then their excuse will be but to say: "By God our Lord, we were not idolaters."

There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah."
