اِنَّاۤ اَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوۡحًا اِلٰی قَوۡمِہٖۤ اَنۡ اَنۡذِرۡ قَوۡمَکَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِ اَنۡ یَّاۡتِیَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌ

Commentary:
The Holy Prophet represented in himself all the Divine Messengers that had gone before him. The account given in this Surah of the Prophet Noah applies with equal effect to the conditions and circumstances through which the Holy Prophet had to pass. It is in this light that the meaning of the Surah should be read and appreciated.

Observance of Divine laws, discharge of obligations due to God, and obedience to the commands and behests of His Prophets constitute the sum and substance of all religious teaching.
یَغۡفِرۡ لَکُمۡ مِّنۡ ذُنُوۡبِکُمۡ وَیُؤَخِّرۡکُمۡ اِلٰۤی اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّی ۚ اِنَّ اَجَلَ اللّٰہِ اِذَا جَآءَ لَا یُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوۡ کُنۡتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ

وَاِنِّیۡ کُلَّمَا دَعَوۡتُہُمۡ لِتَغۡفِرَ لَہُمۡ جَعَلُوۡۤا اَصٰبِعَہُمۡ فِیۡۤ اٰذَانِہِمۡ وَاسۡتَغۡشَوۡا ثِیَابَہُمۡ وَاَصَرُّوۡا وَاسۡتَکۡبَرُوا اسۡتِکۡبَارًا

The words Istaghshau Thiyabahum metaphorically mean: 'They refused to listen to the Divine Message. They closed all the avenues of their hearts against it, Thiyab meaning 'hearts' (Lane).

اِسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ (Istaghshau Thiyabahum, 他们用他们的衣服盖住头, 他们用他们的衣服蒙住), 一句是比喻:表示努哈和其民族中的不信者之间好像有幕状物, 凡是他向他们所说的, 都不能深入他们的心中。这句也可表示傲慢。

وَیُمۡدِدۡکُمۡ بِاَمۡوٰلٍ وَّبَنِیۡنَ وَیَجۡعَل لَّکُمۡ جَنّٰتٍ وَّیَجۡعَل لَّکُمۡ اَنۡہٰرًا
مَّا لَکُمۡ لَا تَرۡجُوۡنَ لِلّٰہِ وَقَارًا
Important Words:
وقاراً (wisdom and staidness) is derived from وقر. They say وقر الرجل i.e. the man was or became grave, steady, wise, dignified, patient. وقار means, wisdom, staidness, dignity, gravity; greatness (Aqrab).
Commentary:
God (said Noah to his people) had conferred innumerable blessings upon them, the greatest being that He raised among them a Prophet by following whose teaching they could achieve greatness, a place of dignity and respect among the nations of the world.

Atwar is plural of Taur which means, a time; state; condition; quality; mode or manner; form or appearance. The verse means, God has created men of different forms and different conditions; of various aspects and dispositions, or He has created them by stages (Lane).
