9:87

رَضُوا۟ بِأَن يَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْخَوَالِفِ وَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

They are content to be with the womenfolk, and their hearts are sealed so that they understand not.

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

وہ اس بات پر راضی ہو گئے ہیں کہ وہ پیچھے بیٹھ رہ جانے والی عورتوں کے ساتھ ہو جائیں اور ان کے دلوں پر مُہر لگا دی گئی ہے۔ پس وہ سمجھ نہیں سکتے۔

French

Ils préfèrent rester avec les femmes qui sont restées à l’arrière, et leurs cœurs sont scellés, de sorte qu’ils ne comprennent pas.

German

Sie sind es zufrieden, mit den zurückbleibenden (Stämmen) zu sein, und ihre Herzen sind versiegelt, so dass sie nicht begreifen.

Chinese

[a]他们满意于同留在后方的妇女留在一起, [b]他们的心是被封闭的, 所以他们不了解 (一切)。

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

وہ اس بات پر خوش ہیں کہ پیچھے بیٹھ رہنے والے قبائل[1] میں شامل ہو جائیں اور ان کے دلوں پر مہر کر دی گئی ہے۔ پس وہ (اپنے بداعمال کی وجہ سے) سمجھتے نہیں۔

قبائل کا لفظ قرآن مجید میں نہیں۔ لیکن ’’خَوَالِف‘‘ کا لفظ ہے جو یا تو جماعتوں کی جمع ہے یا عورتوں کی۔ چونکہ جماعتوں سے مراد قبائل ہیں اور انہی کا ذکر مناسب تھا۔ ہم نے خَوَالِف کے معنے پیچھے رہ جانے والے قبائل کے کر دئیے ہیں۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

[a]They prefer to be with the womenfolk,[1205] who remain behind at home and [b]their hearts are sealed[1206] so that they understand not.

Khawalif means, those who remain behind during war; or the women (or children) remaining behind in houses or tents. The word also signifies, bad or corrupt persons (Lane).

Important Words:

خوالف (womenfolk) is the plural of both خالف and خالفة which are active participles from the verb خلف which means, he remained or came after. خالف means, one who remains behind or after others, particularly in case of war, the word خالفةbeing its feminine gender. So خوالف means, those who remain behind during war; or the women (or children) remaining behind in houses or tents. The word also signifies, bad or corrupt persons (Lane). See also 7:70 & 170.

ان لوگوں نے گھر بیٹھنے والیوں میں شامل ہونا پسند کیا اور ان کے دلوں پر ٹھپہ لگا دیا گیا، اس لیے ان کی سمجھ میں اب کچھ نہیں آتا

English - Sahih

They were satisfied to be with those who stay behind, and their hearts were sealed over, so they do not understand.

وہ خوش ہیں کہ پیچھے رہ جانے والی عورتوں کے ساتھ رہ جائیں اور ان کے دلوں پر مہر کر دی گئی ہے سووہ نہیں سمجھتے
