English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ^ra

Say to the disbelievers: ‘But for your prayer to Him my Lord would not care for you. You have indeed rejected the truth, and the punishment of your rejection will now cleave to you.’

اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ

تُو کہہ دے کہ اگر تمہاری دعا نہ ہوتی تو میرا ربّ تمہاری کوئی پرواہ نہ کرتا ۔ پس تم اُسے جھٹلاچکے ہو سو ضرور اس کا وبال تم سے چمٹ جانے والا ہے۔

French

Dis aux mécréants : « Et n’était-ce votre prièreà Lui, mon Seigneur ne tiendrait aucun compte de vous. Maismaintenant que vous avez rejeté Son Message, Son châtiment s’attachera à vous.

German

Sprich: "Was kümmert Sich mein Herr um euch, wenn ihr nicht (zu Ihm) betet? Ihr habt ja geleugnet, und das wird (euch) nun anhaften."

Chinese

(使者啊!)你 (对不信者) 说: “如果你们不祈祷, (不呼求宽恕,) 我的养主将不关怀你们。(但现在) 你们已否认了 (真理), 所以你们将不会摆脱他的惩罚。”

Di' ai miscredenti: «Se non per le vostre preghiere a Lui, il mio Signore non avrebbe affatto cura di voi. Voi avete veramente rifiutato la verità e la punizione per il vostro rifiuto vi si attaccherà addosso.»

Di a los incrédulos: "De ser por vuestra oración, mi Señor no se preocuparía de vosotros. Ahora que lo habéis negado, la desgracia se abatirá sobre vosotros".

اردو تفسیرِ صغیر

(اے رسول)! تو ان سے کہہ دے کہ میرا رب تمہاری پروا ہی کیا کرتا ہے اگر تمہاری طرف سے دعا (اور استغفار) نہ ہو پس جبکہ تم نے (پیغام الٰہی کو) جھٹلا دیا تو (اب) اس کا عذاب (تم سے) چمٹا چلا جائے گا۔

English - Short Commentary Translation

Say to the disbelievers, ‘But for your prayer to Him my Lord would not care for you[2093] at all. But now that you have rejected His Message, His punishment will cleave to you.’

English - Five Volume Translation

Say to the disbelievers: ‘But for your prayer to Him my Lord would not care for you. You have indeed rejected the truth, and the punishment of your rejection will now cleave to you.’[2703]

اردو ترجمہ مودودی

اے محمدؐ، لوگوں سے کہو "میرے رب کو تمہاری کیا حاجت پڑی ہے اگر تم اس کو نہ پکارو اب کہ تم نے جھٹلا دیا ہے، عنقریب وہ سزا پاؤ گے کہ جان چھڑانی محال ہو گی"

English - Sahih

Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your denial is going to be adherent.

کہہ دو میرا رب تمہاری پروا نہیں کرتا اگرتم اسے نہ پکارو سو تم جھٹلا توچکے ہو پھر اب تو اس کا وبال پڑ کر رہے گا

Say: 'My Lord esteems you not at all were it not for your prayer, for you have cried lies, and it shall surely be fastened.'

O Muhammad, tell the people, "MyLord does not care at all if you do not invoke Him. Now that you have denied (His Revelation), you will soon be awarded such a punishment which you will never be able to avoid."

Say: "My Lord is not concerned on your account if you do not pray to Him. You have surely done with denying; soon will come the inevitable judgement.

Say (to the Rejecters): "My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!"

Important Words:

یعبؤ (cares) is derived from عبأ which means, he packed up goods, put one upon the other. They say ما أعبأبه i.e. what shall I do with it or I do not care for, mind, heed or regard him, or I do not receive anything from him, with approbation, or I do not hold him to be of any weight or worth; or I do not esteem him (Lane & Mufradat).

Commentary:

The verse means to say that God has created man to serve a grand and noble object. If he turns his back on the object of his creation, he forfeits God’s mercy and makes himself deserving of His displeasure. That sublime purpose of man’s creation is referred to in vv. 51-57.
