قَالُوا اطَّیَّرۡنَا بِکَ وَبِمَنۡ مَّعَکَ ۚ قَالَ طٰٓئِرُکُمۡ عِنۡدَ اللّٰہِ ۖ بَلۡ اَنۡتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ تُفۡتَنُوۡنَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They said, ‘We auger evil from thee and from those that are with thee.’ He said, ‘The cause of your evil fortune is with Allah. Nay, but you are a people who are on trial.’
اردو ترجمہ مرزا طاہر احمد خلیفة المسیح الرابعؒ
انہوں نے کہا ہم تجھ سے اور تیرے ساتھیوں سے برا شگون لیتے ہیں۔ اُس نے کہا تمہارا شگون تو اللہ کے پاس ہے بلکہ تم تو ایک ایسی قوم ہو جسے آزمایا جائے گا۔
French
Ils dirent : « Nous augurons du mal de toi et de ceux qui sont avec toi. » Il dit : « La vraie raison de votre mauvaise fortune est avec Allāh. Mais vous êtes un peuple qui est en train d’être éprouvé. »

Sie sprachen: "Wir ahnen Böses von dir und von denen, die mit dir sind." Er sprach: "Euer Unheil ist bereits bei Allah. Nein, ihr seid ein Volk, das geprüft wird."
Chinese
他们说: “我们由于你和跟从你的人而占凶兆。”[950]他说: “你们凶兆 (的真正原因) 是在安拉那里。实际上, 你们是被考验的民族。”
تَطَيَّرَ بِهٖ (Tatayyara bihi) 的意思是: 他为他或它占出了凶兆; 他认为他或它的预兆是凶的 (Lane)。

Risposero quelli: «Presagiamo del male, da te e da quelli che sono con te.» Egli disse: «La causa del vostro malaugurio è presso Allah, ma voi siete un popolo messo alla prova.»
Spanish
Respondieron: “Te auguramos el mal a ti y a quienes están contigo”. Él respondió: “La causa de vuestra mala fortuna está en Al‑lah. Así es, pues no sois más que un pueblo que está a prueba”.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
انہوں نے کہا (اے صالح) ہم نے (جتنا سوچا ہے) تجھے اور تیرے ساتھیوں کو منحوس ہی پایا[1] ہے۔ صالح نے کہا تمہاری نحوست کا سبب تو اللہ کے پاس ہے بلکہ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تم ایک ایسی قوم ہو جس کو آزمائش میں ڈالا گیا ہے۔
یعنی تم لوگ اپنی قوم کے لئے کسی ترقی کا نہیں بلکہ تباہی کا موجب ہوگے۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
They said, ‘We augur[2177A] ill of thee and of those that are with thee.’ He said, ‘The true cause of your ill-fortune is with Allah, but you are a people who are on trial.’
Tatayyara bihi means, he augured ill of it or him; he regarded him or it as ill-omened (Lane).

They said, ‘We auger evil of thee and of those that are with thee.’ He said, ‘The cause of your evil fortune is with Allah. Nay, but you are a people who are on trial.’[2847]

انہوں نے کہا "ہم نے تو تم کو اور تمہارے ساتھیوں کو بد شگونی کا نشان پایا ہے" صالحؑ نے جواب دیا "“تمہارے نیک و بد شگون کا سر رشتہ تو اللہ کے پاس ہے اصل بات یہ ہے کہ تم لوگوں کی آزمائش ہو رہی ہے"

They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested."
