فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ ثُمَّ يَقُولُونَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ لِيَشْتَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا كَتَبَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَوَيْلٌ لَّهُم مِّمَّا يَكْسِبُونَ

English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Woe, therefore, to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say: ‘This is from Allah,’ that they may take for it a paltry price. Woe, then, to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they earn.
5:32

فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّٰدِمِينَ

Then Allah sent a raven which scratched in the ground, that He might show him how to hide the corpse of his brother. He said, ‘Woe is me! Am I not able to be even like this raven so that I may hide the corpse of my brother?’ And then he became regretful.
11:73

قَالَتْ يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ ءَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا۠ عَجُوزٌ وَهَٰذَا بَعْلِى شَيْخًا ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عَجِيبٌ

She said, ‘Oh, woe is me! Shall I bear a child when I am an old woman, and this my husband is an old man? This is indeed a strange thing!’
14:3

ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ

Disbelief (Kufr) / Disbeliever, (Kuffar)Disbelief (Kufr) / Punishment Of AWoe (Wail)Straight Path

Allah, to Whom belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. And woe to the disbelievers for a terrible punishment:
18:50

وَوُضِعَ ٱلْكِتَٰبُ فَتَرَى ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَٰوَيْلَتَنَا مَالِ هَٰذَا ٱلْكِتَٰبِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّآ أَحْصَىٰهَا ۚ وَوَجَدُوا۟ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ حَاضِرًا ۗ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًا

Accountability (Hisab) / Allah Calls To AccountAfterlife (Akhirah) / Every Deed Will Be Judged InAllah / Punishes Those Who Wrong ThemselvesAttributes Of Allah / Al-Muhsi (The Counter, Recorder)Book (Kitab) / Of DeedsDay Of Requital / Resurrection, (Yaumul-Qiyamah, Yaumud-Din, Yaumul-Akhirah, Yaumul-Ba‘th) / On That DayWoe (Wail)

And the Book will be placed before them, and thou wilt see the guilty fearful of that which is therein; and they will say, ‘O woe to us! What kind of a Book is this! It leaves out nothing small or great but has recorded it.’ And they will find all that they did confronting them, and thy Lord does not wrong anyone.
19:38

فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Mighty Day (Yaumun-‘azim)Woe (Wail)

But the parties differed among themselves; so woe to those who disbelieve because of the meeting of the great day.
20:62

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٍ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ

Allah / Who Forges Lie Against, (Iftara’)PerishProphethood / False Claimants ToRevelation / And False ClaimantsWoe (Wail)Moses / Musa(as) / Story OfPharaoh (Fir‘aun) / Story Of

Moses said to them, ‘Woe to you; forge not a lie against Allah, lest He destroy you by some punishment; and surely, he who forges a lie shall perish.’
21:19

بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ ۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ

Falsehood (Batil)PerishTruth (Haqq)Woe (Wail)
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Nay, We hurl the truth at falsehood, and it breaks its head, and lo, it perishes. And woe be to you for that which you ascribe to God.
21:47

وَلَئِن مَّسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ يَٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ

Calamities (‘Adhab)Woe (Wail)
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And if even a breath of thy Lord’s punishment touch them, they will surely cry out, ‘Woe to us! we were indeed wrongdoers.’
25:29

يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًا

Man / Trial On EarthSatan / MisleadsWoe (Wail)

‘Ah, woe is me! Would that I had never taken such a one for a friend!
28:81

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لِّمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًا وَلَا يُلَقَّىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ

Jaza’ / Recompense / Of Believers, Of RighteousKnowledge (‘Ilm) / Allah BestowsKnowledge (‘Ilm) / And BelieversMoral Traits / SteadfastnessThawab / RewardWoe (Wail)

But those who had been given knowledge said, ‘Woe to you, Allah’s reward is best for those who believe and do good works; and it shall be granted to none except those who are steadfast.’
36:53

قَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا مَنۢ بَعَثَنَا مِن مَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَصَدَقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ

Attributes Of Allah / Ar-Rahman (The Gracious, Beneficent)Promise / To Disbelievers, To HypocritesWoe (Wail)Burial
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They will say, ‘O! woe to us! who has raised us up from our place of sleep? This is what the Gracious God had promised, and the Messengers spoke the truth.’
38:28

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَٰطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ

Allah / Created Heavens And EarthConjecture (Zann)Disbelief (Kufr) / Punishment Of AEarth (Al-Ard) / Creation Of TheFalsehood (Batil)Universe / Created With PurposeWoe (Wail)

And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the view of those who disbelieve. Woe, then, to the disbelievers because of the Fire.
39:23

أَفَمَن شَرَحَ ٱللَّهُ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَٰمِ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ نُورٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْقَٰسِيَةِ قُلُوبُهُم مِّن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

Breast (Fu‘ad, Qalb)Heart (Sadr, Fu’ad, Qalb) / HardenedLight (Nur, Diya’)Remember / Allah / Those Who Forget ToWoe (Wail)
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
Is he then whose bosom Allah has opened for the acceptance of Islam, so that he possesses a light from his Lord, like him who is groping in the darkness of disbelief ? Woe, then, to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah! They are in manifest error.
41:7

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ فَٱسْتَقِيمُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُشْرِكِينَ

Bashr / Mortal / Allegation: Prophets Are MereForgiveness (‘Afw) / Seek Of AllahMuhammad(sa) / A MortalRevelation / To Holy Prophet(sa)Shirk / Woe To The IdolatersWoe (Wail)

Say, ‘I am only a man like you. It is revealed to me that your God is One God; so go ye straight to Him without deviating, and ask forgiveness of Him.’ And woe to the idolaters,
41:8

ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

Day Of Requital / Resurrection, (Yaumul-Qiyamah, Yaumud-Din, Yaumul-Akhirah, Yaumul-Ba‘th) / Rejection OfZakatWoe (Wail)

Who give not the Zakat, and they it is who deny the Hereafter.
43:66

فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ

45:8

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
