وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ فَقَالَ إِنِّى رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
And We did send Moses with Our Signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs, and he said, ‘I am truly a Messenger of the Lord of the worlds.’

اور یقیناً ہم نے موسیٰ کو فرعون اور اس کے سرداروں کی طرف اپنے نشانات کے ساتھ بھیجا۔ پس اس نے کہا میں یقیناً تمام جہانوں کے ربّ کا رسول ہوں۔

Et Nous avons certainement envoyé Moïse avec Nos Signes à Pharaon et ses chefs, et il dit : « Je suis en vérité le Messager du Seigneur des mondes. »

Commentary:
In the immediately preceding verse it was mentioned that the basic teaching of all Divine Messengers was the Unity of God. In this and the following verses, a study of the story of the greatest Israelite Prophet, Moses, has been enjoined for the purpose of showing that he laid the greatest emphasis on Divine Unity.

ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو اپنی نشانیوں کے ساتھ فرعون اور اُس کے اعیان سلطنت کے پاس بھیجا، اور اس نے جا کر کہا کہ میں رب العالمین کا رسول ہوں

And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."

Commentary:
All Prophets and Divine Messengers have always been held up to scorn and scoffed and mocked at. Their beginning is so humble and their circumstances so poor that their prophecies about the great and bright future of their followers appear only to be wild talk to their people, exciting laughter and inviting jokes and jeers from them.

Important Words:
أخت (sister) is the feminine of أخ. They say أخاہ i.e. he became a brother, a friend or a companion to him. آخاہ (akhahu) means, he fraternised with him; acted with him in a brotherly manner. اخیت بین الشیئین means, I united the two things. أخ means, a brother; a friend; a companion, or associate or a fellow, and أخت means, a sister (Lane & Aqrab).

ہم ایک پر ایک ایسی نشانی اُن کو دکھاتے چلے گئے جو پہلی سے بڑھ چڑھ کر تھی، اور ہم نے اُن کو عذاب میں دھر لیا تاکہ وہ اپنی روش سے باز آئیں

Important Words:
أخت (sister) is the feminine of أخ. باوجود اس کے وہ یہی کہتے جاتے تھے کہ اے جادوگر! اپنے رب کے سامنے ہمارے حق میں ان تمام وعدوں کا واسطہ دے کر دعا کر جو (وعدے) اس نے تجھ سے کیے ہیں (اگر عذاب ٹل گیا) تو ہم ضرور ہدایت پا جائیں گے۔

ہر عذاب کے موقع پر وہ کہتے، اے ساحر، اپنے رب کی طرف سے جو منصب تجھے حاصل ہے اُس کی بنا پر ہمارے لیے اُس سے دعا کر، ہم ضرور راہ راست پر آ جائیں گے

Commentary:
The Bible is full of instances of the repeated breach of promise by Pharaoh and his people. Whenever they found Divine punishment actually overtaking them, they begged Moses to pray to God to remove it and promised that if He removed it they would believe in him. But every time they broke their plighted word till the cup of their iniquities became full and they could no longer avert Divine punishment by such subterfuges. The consequence was that they were drowned in the sea.

Pharaoh met Moses’ invitation to accept his Message by telling his people that being a mighty monarch he was infinitely more deserving of their allegiance than a despicable man like Moses who could not properly express himself.
